“When you have children, you never run out of ways to spend your money,” Michelle said. The Quincy mother of three is a petite brunette with a charming smile she often hides behind her hand. “I know my teeth need some work, but it’s never been our top priority. Something else is always more important.”
For her tenth wedding anniversary, Michelle’s husband surprised her with a trip to the Quincy dentist. “I know what you’re thinking,” Brian said. “How romantic is a trip to the dentist? But I know what a beautiful woman my wife is, and I want her to be able to show the world her smile with confidence.”
Cosmetic dentistry focuses on addressing issues that impact the appearance of one’s smile. This can include stained or discolored teeth, yellowed teeth, missing or broken teeth and more. In Michelle’s case, the problem issue was cavities. “I had all these nasty old filling from when I was a kid,” she said. “They look black and dirty in my mouth. It’s embarrassing.”
Today dental fillings are available in a variety of colors, including hues that match the natural appearance of your teeth. You’re no longer limited to the older options of gold, silver, or composite fillings. Having the unsightly fillings replaced with less visible alternatives made Michelle feel much less self conscious about her smile. Additionally, professional tooth whitening treatments left her feeling great.
“Sometimes I still pick up my hand when I smile,” Michelle said. “It’s the habit of a lifetime. But it’s a habit I’m happy to break!”
